This 4 days safari is your ultimate opportunity to encounter these endangered primates. A gorilla trekking excursion is the ideal adventure designed for you to encounter a habituated family. Also, you can spend an entire day observing a gorilla family under habituation.

Your Bwindi gorilla trekking safari will begin when you embark on a drive to south-western Uganda, to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home of almost half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. You will briefly visit the equator monument in Kayabwe – Mpigi district, 72 km from Kampala – Uganda’s capital. You will enjoy a scenic drive through the lush greenery and rugged countryside, arriving at Bwindi in the early evening.
The day’s major highlight will be a gorilla trekking excursion in one of Bwindi’s major regions. There are 12 habituated mountain gorilla families found in the vast Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Your guided trekking expedition will last between 2 – 8 hours. Once you encounter a gorilla family, you will spend an hour observing its members as they go about their day. After the excursion, you will embark on a hike back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After having breakfast, you will set out for the famous ‘Batwa trail experience’ – an encounter with the pygmy Batwa, a tribe of native forest dwellers. They will demonstrate their way of life through songs, drama and tales. You will also embark on a community tour and a guided nature walk through the vast Bwindi and nearing communities. As the dusk sets in, you will return to your lodge.
On the last day of your gorilla trekking safari, you will embark on a return drive to Kampala. You will have lunch in Mbarara town and later visit Mbambire, a crafts centre where local drums are made. Once you reach the capital, your guide will drop you at your residence or drive you to the airport to catch your flight.
